I appreciate being challenged in games which is why I made a two player game. However, this game can also be played alone. This would then train coordination and reaction. To avoid people staying static, I’ve placed some moving bonuses. The idea was that those bonuses could give penalties, for example slowing down the rival or busting them, but I finally chose to simply use them like a bonus gain.
To allow a better immersion in the game and give a better experience to the player, I worked hard on the graphics and integrated some animation and parallax effects. I added a motivating song and some sound effects to complete the immersion.
I started first with the programming, beginning with the player movement and features then added the asteroids and finally established how they interact together. At this point I started to add some graphics, ambiance stuff and work with this «ping-pong» style between coding and illustrating. I also defined the gameplay and tried some user tests to find out the ideal difficulty. The few last days I implemented the possibility to pause the game and see the score.
